TuffWrap is North America’s most experienced suspended cover installation crew. We mobilize fast, install clean, and document everything for code compliance from day one.
When reroofing or overhead construction threatens to shut down your operation, a temporary suspended cover is the solution. Installed below the roof deck, a temporary suspended ceiling seals off the construction zone from the active facility below — containing dust, debris, and weather while your team keeps working.
TuffWrap® pioneered the concept of engineered Suspended Cover, and our SmartSeam® system remains the only fully code-compliant option on the market — FM Approved, UL Classified, IBC and NFPA compliant, and ASTM E84 Class A rated.
If your facility cannot afford downtime, a TuffWrap Suspended Cover is how you reroof without stopping production.
SmartSeam® installed in active warehouse — reroofing above, operations below
A suspended cover, also called a temporary ceiling cover, is a barrier between construction activity and daily operations below. Temporary suspended ceilings are commonly used during reroofing, renovation, maintenance, and other overhead construction projects where dust, debris, moisture, or loose materials could disrupt the facility.
Suspended Cover (noun): A temporary ceiling system that creates a continuous sealed barrier between an active facility and the construction zone above, containing dust and debris while operations continue uninterrupted below. Pioneered by TuffWrap® Installations.
Unlike a tarp draped over equipment or conventional polyethylene sheeting stapled to joists, a properly engineered suspended cover spans the full work zone, is designed to activate fire sprinklers without obstruction, and meets all applicable building and fire codes for use in occupied facilities.
TuffWrap coined the term Suspended Cover to distinguish our engineered approach from improvised alternatives and to establish a clear standard for what a compliant temporary ceiling must do.
Any temporary ceiling installed in an occupied facility must satisfy three non-negotiable requirements. TuffWrap SmartSeam is engineered to meet all three simultaneously.
A continuous, sealed barrier prevents construction contamination from reaching the occupied space below — protecting people, products, inventory, and equipment from the first day of installation.
This is the test most temporary ceilings fail. Standard poly sheeting blocks sprinklers entirely. SmartSeam’s heat-reactive seams open only where fire heat is present, allowing immediate, unobstructed sprinkler activation.
IBC EC 043. FM Approvals 4652. NFPA. ASTM E84 Class A. A suspended cover in an occupied building must comply with all of these, not some. SmartSeam is the only system that does.
SmartSeam handles overhead containment. For complete construction containment, floor-to-ceiling, inside and out, TuffWrap pairs Suspended Cover with these complementary systems.
TuffWrap EXT protects your building envelope from weather and debris during open-air construction phases. Keeping the weather out while the interior is exposed.
C.O.R.E. Frameless Walls, Hybrid Walls, and Total Enclosure seal off construction zones horizontally, creating a fully contained jobsite inside your facility. Pair with SmartSeam for top-to-bottom containment.
TuffTape, TuffNet, HSDR, and Air Flow Ventilation complement SmartSeam on complex projects, providing edge sealing, vertical debris capture, and airflow management for demanding environments.
