Demolishing one bakery line meant protecting the lines beside it. TuffWrap kept production moving while the work went on next door.

Renovating a working bakery means making changes in one part of the plant while the rest of it keeps making product. When a large bakery began renovating part of its production area, the plan called for demolishing one of its existing lines. That kind of demolition produces dust and debris, and the lines next to the work zone had to keep running.

In food production, even a small amount of airborne dust or debris reaching an active line can put product at risk and trigger costly cleanups or stoppages. The bakery needed a way to protect its adjacent lines from contamination for as long as the demolition lasted.

The Challenge: Demolish One Line Without Contaminating the Ones Beside It

A demolition zone next to live food production leaves very little room for error. The facility manager needed a solution that could:

  • Separate the demolition zone from the active production lines
  • Keep dust and debris from reaching the adjacent lines
  • Stand up to daily vehicle traffic for the length of the renovation
  • Keep employees protected and production running

The Solution: Industrial Hybrid Walls with 8′ Plywood Reinforcement

The facility manager reached out to TuffWrap, and the team’s answer was a line of its signature Industrial Hybrid Walls. 200 linear feet of wall were installed to separate the work zone from the clean zone, giving the demolition crew a clearly defined space to work in and the neighboring lines a protected one to run in.

Because the area would see daily vehicle traffic, TuffWrap reinforced the walls with 8′ plywood panels, adding the durability needed to stay intact under constant use.

The Result: Production Continued, Contamination Stayed Out

Once the Industrial Hybrid Walls were in place, the bakery had what it needed: demolition moving forward on one side and production continuing on the other. Employees stayed protected from dust and debris, and the reinforced walls held up to daily vehicle traffic until the renovation was complete.

The bakery operator was thrilled with the outcome. The temporary solution let the facility renovate without shutting down the lines around the work.

Why This Matters for Food & Beverage Facilities

Renovating one part of a food production facility puts the rest of it at risk unless the containment is built for real-world wear. TuffWrap’s Industrial Hybrid Walls, reinforced for vehicle traffic, give bakeries and other food producers a way to modernize without compromising the lines still running.
