TuffWrap started with a problem, an entrepreneur, and a sheet of polyethylene. More than 25 years later, that founding ingenuity is still the engine behind every system we engineer and every facility we protect.
TuffWrap started with a problem, an entrepreneur, and a sheet of polyethylene. More than 25 years later, that founding ingenuity is still the engine behind every system we engineer and every facility we protect.
David Campbell, President and Founder, recognized a persistent problem: dust and debris falling from above was contaminating active workspaces during reroofing. His solution was practical and ingenious—suspend a polyethylene sheet below the roof deck to catch debris before it reached the facility floor.
It worked. It got noticed. The first formalized project was completed in 1999: a suspended cover temporary ceiling for a 40,000 sq. ft. picture frame manufacturer. Soon after, TuffWrap landed its first Fortune 500 client—a multi-billion-dollar food company in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

TuffWrap introduces the interior protection concept to roofing contractors at its first industry trade show.
After realizing the need for interior protection, formed TufWrap Systems, Inc. Later changed to TuffWrap® Installations, Inc..
Began providing services nationwide and in Canada.
Major floor removal and renovation in print facility. Developed techniques to build a wall system without studs that could stand up to construction site demands. Major floor removal and renovation in print facility. .
Began using anti-static and anti-microbial materials.

Major food manufacturer needed more than poly because fork truck movements of pallets damaged the wall system. Developed 4 ft. tall...
Started process of seeking UL 723S classification. First two designs are tested but failed to pass.
he third completed design passed the UL 723S test and SmartSeam® became UL classified for installation under sprinklers. In the fall the first SmartSeam® job took place at Samuel Adams, Allentown, PA.
Developed and refined manufacturing techniques and machinery to manufacture SmartSeam and the TuffWrap unique dust cap. The manufacturing equipment was designed, developed, and built in-house.
Developed and finalized the unique TuffWrap pocket door design. Hybrid walls were also developed for areas with heavy foot traffic and equipment traffic involving TuffWrap proprietary bracing and TuffWrap proprietary food grade TuffPanels.
Developed a company-wide safety program led by a degreed and accredited safety manager.
Added a dedicated US and Canada based Project Manager/Estimator team.
Developed and implemented stringent Quality Control processes and documentation for the purpose of achieving code compliance.
Began developing TuffWrap temporary exterior walls (EXTreme Walls).
The first EXTreme job replaced heat shrink materials and processes used in the past. EXTreme Walls offers two key advantages over heat shrink: no heat is required to tighten the plastic (eliminating safety hazards associated with open flames on the construction site), and the EXTreme walls are made from reinforced polymer plastic sheet that is tear-resistant.
TuffWrap SmartSeam® receives International Building Code (IBC) compliance.
TuffWrap Canada ULC is established in the Province of Ontario.
TuffWrap SmartSeam® receives FM Approval as a Class 4652 material.
A Decade of Code-Compliant Protection. Celebrating SmartSeam® - 10 years, 50,000 rolls & 75 million sq. ft. of protection.
