TuffNet

Extra Debris Protection for Suspended Cover Systems - Engineered Debris Netting for Active Facility Construction

TuffNet is TuffWrap's debris netting solution for temporary ceiling applications. Designed to integrate with SmartSeam® suspended cover systems, TuffNet provides an extra layer of support to catch large falling overhead debris. Giving durable overhead debris protection while supporting sprinkler-conscious design criteria commonly required in active facilities.

Understanding the solution

What Is Debris Netting for Construction Protection?

Debris netting is a protective mesh material installed beneath active construction work to help capture falling debris before it reaches occupied areas, equipment, inventory, or personnel below. While suspended cover systems are designed to separate construction activities in occupied spaces, many projects require an additional layer of protection to capture larger debris before it reaches the cover system itself.

By intercepting large debris before it reaches the suspended cover, debris netting helps reduce risk and supports clean, safe project execution.

Not every suspended cover project requires debris netting.

TuffWrap evaluates each project individually to determine whether supplemental debris netting should be incorporated into the suspended cover design.

In many applications, SmartSeam® suspended cover systems alone provide the protection necessary to separate construction activity from occupied spaces.

However, certain project conditions may warrant additional debris-catching capability, including:

  • Roofing projects involving material removal
  • Work that generates larger debris particles
  • Construction above sensitive equipment or inventory
  • Facilities with strict operational requirements
  • Projects where owners or safety teams request additional overhead protection

How TuffNet Meets NFPA 13 Section 8.15.14 Compliance

TuffWrap evaluates every component of its containment systems with safety, performance, and code compliance in mind. TuffNet is part of that commitment.

TuffNet uses ¼-inch knitted mesh that meets NFPA 13 Section 8.15.14 criteria for open grid materials installed beneath sprinkler systems. This helps support sprinkler performance while adding a durable layer of debris protection above the suspended cover system.

When used with SmartSeam, TuffNet enhances TuffWrap’s suspended cover systems by providing a code-conscious approach to protecting people, products, and property from falling dust and debris.

The TuffNet system includes the following engineered specifications and protective features:

Tear and Rip Resistant:

Our netting is UV-treated, will not unravel when cut, and remains flexible in all-weather climates.

Supports Sprinkler Water Flow:

Our 1/4″ debris netting design does not alter spray patterns during sprinkler activation.

Controls Flame Spread:

Third-Party Tested to Pass NFPA 701 Method II

Grid Compliant:

TUFFNET Debris Netting features a 1/4” knitted mesh.

WHAT SETS TUFFNET APART FROM STANDARD DEBRIS NETTING?

Not all construction debris netting is designed for occupied-facility suspended cover applications.

Unlike generic debris netting products, TuffNet was developed for integration into overhead protection systems used during active-facility construction projects.

Purpose-Built for Suspended Cover

TuffNet is designed to function as part of a complete suspended cover solution rather than as a standalone construction netting product.

Developed Around NFPA 13 Criteria

Its 1/4-inch knitted mesh design is based on open-grid ceiling considerations commonly referenced in NFPA 13.

Integrates With SmartSeam®

TuffNet works alongside SmartSeam® suspended cover systems to provide additional debris-catching capability when project conditions require it.

Durable Overhead Protection

The knitted mesh construction provides reliable performance in demanding reroofing, renovation, and overhead construction environments.

Designed for Active Facilities

TuffNet supports construction activities while facilities remain operational, reducing disruption and protecting people, equipment, and operations below.

Is TuffNet Right for Your Project?

Every facility and construction project presents unique challenges. While some suspended cover applications may not require debris netting, others benefit from the additional protection TuffNet provides.

The TuffWrap team evaluates your project scope, facility requirements, and operational needs to determine whether TuffNet should be incorporated into your suspended cover solution.
